Lost Digital Camera phones home

“Eye-Fi” software saves irreplaceable photos

A family holidaying in Canada thought all their happy snaps and home videos were gone for good when they lost their digital camera bag.

Luckily, “Eye-Fi” software (a 2-gigabyte SD memory card) was installed, which is able to send your photos and files to your home PC or online photo sharing site.

When it did, also included were some photos of the culprits bragging with “their new camera”. Brilliant!

Technology like this can work two-fold

Firstly, before it’s well-known that software like this is available (and used) for protecting your digital cameras and mobile phones, thieves can be caught “red handed”.

But I believe further down the track, as everyone has similar such software installed, hopefully it will then work as a deterrant to would-be thieves.

What do you think? How do you protect your digital gadgets?
