iPod nano is cheapest in Australia
“Cheap iPod nano news to music lovers”
Cheap?
Well, that is, comparatively to the US dollar!
The Australian price for the iPod is $AU199 ($US131.95).
A survey by CommSec reports that currently Australia is the cheapest place among 62 countries to buy Apple’s 8Gb iPod nano.
In July we only ranked 14th cheapest, but the sharp decline of our dollar, has meant we took out the top spot.
According to CommSec chief equities economist, Craig James, we are the cheapest place to buy the iPod nano, by a “considerable margin”.
South Korea ($US139.72), Canada ($US138.73) and Indonesia ($US138.47) are vying for second spot, but prices in each country are around five per cent dearer than in Australia”.
So, is this bad news, or good news?
The sharp fall of the Australian dollar since July will boost trade competitiveness and assist in insulating Australia from the downturn in the global economy.” James said.
Aussies are high achievers – we love winning things. But, can we really crack out the champers on this ‘win’?
Ok, why not?! I guess it would be un-Australian not to celebrate…
