Australia Day well spent!
Yesterday for many Aussies was spent in close proximity to the stereo for Triple J’s hottest 100 countdown. Did you guess No 1?
I was not at all surprised by Kings of Leon taking out the most coveted no1 position… Them, alongside MGMT and The Presets managed to even snavel two songs each in the Top 10. Well done, especially to The Presets, being local Aussie lads!
Here’s a quick rundown…
Top 10 artists/songs
- Kings of Leon – Sex on Fire
- MGMT – Electric Feel
- Kings of Leon – Use Somebody
- Empire of the Sun – Walking on a Dream
- MGMT – Kids
- The Presets – Talk Like That
- Pez – The Festival Song
- The Presets – This Boy’s in Love
- The Ting Tings – That’s Not My Name
- Drapht – Jimmy Recard
If you want to check out the full listing, listen to the songs, watch live videos, see band photos or party pics, head across to Triple J’s Hottest 100 site.
They even let you know where to purchase ringtones for the Hottest 100 songs.

Apple and your life, I mean iLife
iLife: Do more with photos, movies & music”
Apple announced updates to their iLife software at Macworld.

iPhoto 09
You can now organise your photos by faces and places based on who appears in them and where they were taken.
-> Sort by Faces
Like Facebook tagging, add names to your photos. iPhoto now has face recognition, so it will search your photo database for the same face and add name tags to those photos. You confirm that they’re correct.
-> Sort by Places – Geotag mapping
Works if your camera or smartphone (or um iPhone) has the ability to GPS geotag where your photos are taken. Otherwise you can click on an event, add a name/location.
-> Built in Facebook and Flickr support
If you upload a photo to Facebook and tag it (or others tag it), that gets synced back to iPhoto. With Flickr, the geotags can be shared with your Flickr friends.
Garageband
New features, including learn to play guitar and piano tutorials. You can even purchase separate lessons done by artists – where they teach you to play some of their famous songs.
Purchase iLife 09
iLife 09 is available now for full purchase or upgrade from Apple online.

Just how many text messages do you send a day?
Now, we’ve chatted before about Blackberry addiction (Crackberry) and blackberry users needing thumb surgery and all that…
But we think this latest crazy SMS addition also rates a mention.
Imagine this phone bill
One Californian teen sent over 14,5000 texts in a month!
When calculated out, that’s over 480 messages a day – AND her online phone bill was over 440 pages long.

C’mon. Get a life!!!
I’m sure the Californian winter ain’t that bad??!!
Thoughts and Observations
- Glad they mention that the bill is online. Otherwise what a waste of paper it would have been…
- I’ll bet her thumbs are hellishly strong?! Though RSI and/or arthritis will be a part of her later life.
- Her battery would almost always be flat or charging? She’d have to carry around a DLO PowerPack for sure!
