Apple Media Event

Overview of 4 October Apple Event

New Apple CEO Tim Cook took to the stage at the Apple Cupertino campus and welcomed everyone. He noted that he is ‘very excited’ about his new role and delves straight in.

It was in this room 10 years ago – which Apple calls their ‘town hall’ – Apple launched the original iPod – and a ‘revolution in music’.

Update on Retail stores

Apple recently opened two new Retail stores in China – Hong Kong and Shanghai. The excitement in China is unmatchable. In one store alone, they had 100,000 visitors for opening weekend (by comparison, LA store had 100,000 over first month). They sold more macs in Hong Kong on opening store than they have in any store in the world.  These new two stores brings to total to six in China – and 357 in 11 countries worldwide.

  • New MacBook Air –beautiful, thin, ‘wicked fast’.
  • The MacBook Pro and iMac are the best selling notebook and desktops in the US market
  • There are now 58 million Mac users around the world – or 23% of the US market

Apple Event Keynote

Anyone wishing to watch the Keynote video in it’s entirety, can do so here -> Apple Keynote Oct 2011

Update: Watching the keynote video, and knowing what I know now, it is evident that something was amiss with the speakers. The event lacked the usual excitmenet, the mood was far more somber. It was a get in, get out type of keynote.
