If you haven’t heard or seen the current Streets Cornetto promotion, then you may think it’s a little crazy – and maybe you’re right for thinking so – you make up your own mind.
And, if you’re first love is Cornettos (and not music) you might feel a little jipped by finding one of these gems inside your own cornetto.
However, for everybody else – just get eating Cornettos (guilt free if you’ve got a purpose, right?).
At time of posting, there was still 7,592 MP3 players to win!
For those who like Windows Mobiles (&/or Samsung’s TouchWIZ)
For those who like anything non-Apple
… the Samsung Omnia might be a strong contender for your next smartphone.
With it’s large touchscreen, on-screen QWERTY, full internet browser, 5Mp camera with LED flash, 24Gb with expandable memory – amongst loads of other features.
Samsung Omnia Review
Now, whilst we haven’t had the chance to play with this baby, it’s already creating a stir. In June of this year, CNET dubbed it (perhaps pre-emptively) “the iPhone killer”, but of course, many make that statement – and all manufacturers are vying for that position.
If you want to see the menu’s and a litte about how it works, check out CNET’s video review:
Con’s?
Bad battery life (just like the iPhone and many other smartphones)
Samsung Electro-Mechanics has developed a micro-fuel cell and hydrogen generator that runs on water.
Oh Yong-soo, the vice president of Samsung Electro-Mechanics’ research centre, said that when the handset is turned on, “metal and water in the phone react to produce hydrogen gas”.
The gas is then supplied to a hydrogen cartridge – which reportedly needs replacing after about 5 days constant use. At this stage – that’s a major hiccup. On one hand, we’re “saving the environments resources”; on the other, we’re producing a non-rechargable cartridge.
Don’t worry! Samsung say they will have a better alternative down the track, maybe one that means you should be able to just top up your mobile as needed.
So – I’m wondering if by 2010, they will have already also fine tuned that feature?!
More updates from 2008 International CES are coming through – this time on some of the mobile phone handsets being launched by the likes of Motorola, Sony Ericsson, Samsung. As always, it’s unsure how many of the good ones will slip on through to Australia, but CNET has some great reviews of what they’ve seen so far.
Motorola: are launching about four different mobile phones:
and the Rokr E8 – a vast improvement from the E1 model.
Moto fan’s appear as loyal as iPod owners. Punters seem to either love or hate the Moto’s; and both sides of the fence are quite passionate. You hear of quite a few hiccups some owners have, but in the eyes of the fans – they can do no wrong. Would this be a fair assumption?
Sony Ericsson: There’s also more on the Walkman stage from Sony Ericsson. Phones with high end MP3 & music players are definitely becoming more and more popular amongst the manufacturers.
Of course, with technology, comes price! You have to start wondering which models Mums and Dads will have to buy their younger children, just for security purposes – as there’s very few basic phones produced these days. If anyone would like to let us know of good options, feel free to do so
Samsung: On the other end of the price scale no doubt, and if it’s celebrity status you’re after, don’t miss Samsung’s offering.
