Powerfinger made the day for thousands of fans last Friday, when they did a quick tour of 3 cities in 1 day!
Starting in Brissy, the lads were overwhelmed by the turnout. Advertising the details on their Twitter feed, they expected only a hundred or so punters – but of course, we know how fast news spreads via Twitter and instead there was thousands of adoring fans. The story wasn’t much different in Sydney and Melbourne.
Check out the filmclip for their brand new single, All Of the Dreamers:
Excellent Brisbane scenery. Who knew Powefinger were so big?

The Living End @ Valley Studios, Brisvegas 01/08/08
“All that I’m hearing from you is White Noise!”
If it seems like a long 10 years since The Living End released an album, well it was 10 years worth the wait! The line-up outside the Valley Studios (and stretching down around the corner into the mall) for the MySpace Secret Show was testiment of that.
Given it was an all ages gig, the age of the crowd varied greatly – but the level of excitement did not! Once wrist-banded up and inside, the intimate dark surroundings set the mood perfectly – and then the boys exploded on stage.
Every song they played – new or old – was a huge hit with the singing, dancing crowd. Chris chatted happily to us between each song – and at one stage joked he didn’t feel enough love in the room; to which there was uproarious cheers, screams, claps and of course a forward projection of much love…
It was excellent to be amongst the first crowds hearing their new songs – and the gig was a great insight to how they would have blown away the Splendour crowd the following night!
“With many hit songs, gold and platinum albums, sold out shows, festival headlining appearances, world tours and awards along the way, they have released a brand new album ‘White Noise’ which has gone gold in just one week.” quote: MySpace Secret Shows
If you’re a fan of live music AND you have a MySpace profile, you’d be silly not to befriend both MySpace Secret Shows and Music Zoo.
Having done this myself only last week, I noticed a competition on the Music Zoo profile for the next MySpace Secret Show. The Secret Shows are just that – you have no idea where they’ll be, when they’ll be or even – who will be playing.
Sounds exciting doesn’t it, so of course, I entered …
AND WON!! Woohoo!
Flights to Melbourne, put up in a swanky hotel and going to see The Vines.
Hundreds of fans and supporters lined up outside the venue had to be turned away, as The Tote (a funky little pub with so much history) holds only about 200-250 punters. (We didn’t catch sight of the resident “ghost” thankfully)
The Vines burst back onto the live scene, playing a mix of new tunes off the upcoming fourth album (‘Melodia’ out July 12) and some old favourites. They put on one hell of a set that had the packed in crowd screaming for more.
Thanks to Optus and MySpace for a fantastic night of music and my re-appreciation of The Vines.
Comments:
It’s difficult to articulate but The Vines have that little piece of something special that makes them stand out from the rest. An outstanding Secret Show from an outstanding band and all present will agree it’s sometimes refreshing to just hear a brilliant, loud, rock ‘n’ roll band do what they do best. MySpace Secret Show’s review
The next stage of The Vines career begins here and it’s a safe bet to say that anything goes. In fact, based on the last six years, it’s possibly best not to assume anything other than it’s going to be a hell of a ride… The Vines site
